Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
RCIA is an on-going process offered for unbaptized adults that introduces them to God the Father, Jesus Christ his Son, and the Holy Spirit, as well as the liturgical life and teachings of the Catholic Church. Many individuals decide during this time to prepare themselves to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and First Communion; however, it is not a requirement of the process.
RCIA uses two main components. Individuals meet on Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the School Library to explore their relationship with Jesus and learn about the Catholic faith through open discussion. Then beginning in late-November on Sunday mornings during the 8:30 a.m. Mass--following the Liturgy of the Word--these adults are "Dismissed" to allow for faith sharing while breaking open the Word of God.
The RCIA process is also open to baptized Christian adults seeking to better understand the Catholic faith and possibly gain full communion with the Catholic Church.
Our initial gathering session will be held on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 7:00 p.m. in the Assumption School Library (LMC).
